FREEWAY BLOGGER TO POST 150 SIGNS ON BAY AREA FREEWAYS
FREE SPEECH ACTION TO MARK 1500th U.S. SOLDIER KILLED IN IRAQ

One Man. Two Days. More Than 3 Million People Reached.

Bay Area/San Jose, CA With the announcement of the 1500th U.S. soldier killed in Iraq, a lone activist known as the Freeway Blogger will post 150 banners on Bay Area freeways protesting the war in Iraq and the failure to find Osama Bin Laden. This action will reach communities including Marin, Oakland, San Francisco, and San Jose. The Freeway Blogger has posted over 2,500 hand-painted signs on California freeways since the war began.

Freeway signposting is the last venue open to average individuals to broadcast their opinions directly to their fellow citizens. the activist said. When you put a sign on the freeway, it says exactly what you want it to say and you can reach tens of thousands of people for about 25 cents.

Original messages posted by the Freeway Blogger include, "Nobody Died when Clinton Lied", Osama Bin Forgotten ; Quagmire Accomplished ; and Real Soldiers are Dying in their Hummers so You can Play Soldier in Yours.

Formerly a resident of Southern California, the Freeway Blogger has recently moved to the Bay Area, and examples of his work can be seen on local freeways and at http://www.freewayblogger.com.

"When the Founding Fathers gave us the right to full and unfettered free speech they did it for a reason, and at least part of that reason was to give every citizen the ability to sound the alarm when they felt their government was not representing the will of the people," said the Freeway Blogger, citing policy decisions that have served only to alienate our friends and multiply our enemies.

The gravest threat to our democracy comes from the perception that the individual no longer has a voice in this society. When I put a sign on the freeway I want people to think not just about what it says, but that somebody felt they had the right to say it. I want them to know that they can do it too.
